Job Description

Key Responsibilities: Conceptualization & Design: Create original and innovative garment designs, considering style, fabric, fit, functionality, and customer preferences. Develop mood boards, sketches, technical drawings, and 3D prototypes of garment designs. Research and incorporate current fashion trends and market insights into the design process. Product Development: Work closely with fabric and trim suppliers to select appropriate materials and finishes. Collaborate with pattern makers and garment manufacturers to ensure designs are feasible for production. Conduct fittings and make necessary adjustments to patterns or designs to ensure proper fit and functionality. Technical Specifications: Prepare detailed technical specifications (Tech Packs) for production teams, including measurements, fabrics, trims, and construction details. Ensure designs comply with quality standards and are cost-effective for mass production. Collaboration & Communication: Work with other team members, including merchandisers, marketers, and production teams, to ensure the design vision aligns with business goals. Participate in presentations to senior management or clients, showcasing new designs and product concepts. Quality Control: Oversee the production process to ensure the final garments meet quality and design standards. Address any issues or challenges that arise during production and collaborate with the production team to resolve them. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or related field with 7+ years of experience in garment design, preferably in a fashion brand or apparel manufacturing company. Additional certifications or courses in product design or garment production are a plus. Strong portfolio demonstrating experience in designing a range of garments (casual wear/ formal wear/outerwear, etc.). Proficient in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD programs. Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabric types, and garment fitting. Ability to create detailed technical specifications (Tech Packs) and communicate them effectively. Understanding of production processes, including sourcing, manufacturing, and quality control.
