Brand: Amaraa and Shailendar Traders Location: Andheri - West Department: Designing & Sampling

About the Role:

We are looking for a passionate and creative Fashion Designer to join our design team at Amaraa and Amaraa’s sister brand (Shailendar Traders- export house).

This role involves managing the entire lifecycle of a collection — from concept ideation to production handover. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of market trends, fabrics, prints, embroidery and silhouettes, along with hands-on experience in sampling, styling, and coordinating shoots.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Concept & Research

• Conduct market research and trend analysis to identify upcoming seasonal directions.
• Create detailed mood boards that capture the aesthetic and inspiration for each collection.
• Identify and source appropriate prints, fabrics, and trims aligning with the brand’s vision.

2. Design & Development

• Develop initial sketches, silhouettes, and design concepts for new collections.
• Work closely with the master tailor and sampling team to create the first prototypes based on the base size.
• Review and refine samples to ensure perfect fit, construction, and finishing.
• Finalize approved designs on selected fabrics for production readiness.
• Manage and oversee client-specific custom samples, ensuring each piece is made according to their requirements and timelines.
• Stay in close contact with the master, embroidery designer, and production unit during the final stages of sample completion.
• Ensure proper handover of finalized samples to the production unit after approvals from the buyer.

3. Coordination & Styling

• Collaborate with the social media and marketing team to conceptualize and execute shoot moods and campaign directions.
• Assist in styling for e-commerce and campaign shoots to ensure visual consistency with the brand’s tone and aesthetic.

4. Production Handover

• Prepare cost sheets, tech packs, and all supporting documentation for production.
• Coordinate smooth handover of finalized samples and ensure all details are accurately communicated to the production department.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
• 1-2 years of experience in womenswear design (experience in print-based, western silhouettes or fusion silhouettes preferred).
• Strong sense of trends, color, and fabric knowledge.
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop or similar design tools.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and multitasking skills.
• Eye for detail and a hands-on approach to design development.
