Fabrication Engineer

Key Responsibilities Technical & Fabrication Interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and fabrication sketches accurately. Plan fabrication sequences, material cutting lists, and welding requirements. Monitor fabrication of structural frames, conveyors, chutes, tanks, rollers, and equipment assemblies. Ensure correct selection of welding consumables and fabrication techniques (MIG, TIG, Arc etc.). Verify material grades, thickness, and dimensions before fabrication. Production & Process Management Prepare daily fabrication schedules and allocate work to fitters, welders, and helpers. Ensure timely availability of raw materials, tools, and consumables. Reduce rework by implementing strong fabrication practices and standards. Coordinate with the design team to resolve drawing issues or modifications. Quality & Safety Inspect fabricated items for dimensional accuracy, weld quality, and overall finish. Ensure adherence to WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) and quality norms (IS, ISO or ASME standards). Maintain safety protocols and ensure safe work practices in the fabrication shop. Document inspection reports, NCRs, and progress reports. Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, welding standards, and machining basics. Ability to read complex fabrication drawings and models (SolidWorks/AutoCAD). Excellent supervision and team-management skills. Problem-solving attitude with strong attention to detail. Good communication, planning, and documentation skills. Understanding of conveyor systems, buckets, frames, and industrial structures (preferred).
