Extrusion Machine Operator

Job Description

A Plastic Extrusion Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining plastic extrusion machines to produce plastic parts, sheets, or profiles according to specifications. They monitor the manufacturing process, adjust machine settings, and ensure the quality of the final product. Key Responsibilities: Machine Setup & Operation: Set up and calibrate extrusion machines according to production requirements. Load raw materials (e.g., plastic pellets, resins) into the machine. Start, monitor, and adjust machine parameters (temperature, pressure, speed) to ensure efficient production. Quality Control: Inspect products for defects such as thickness, color consistency, and surface finish. Measure dimensions using calipers, micrometers, or other tools. Perform adjustments to maintain quality standards. Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Identify and resolve issues with the extrusion process, including material flow and die performance. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machinery. Report mechanical issues to maintenance teams as needed. Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Adhere to company policies and industry regulations. Production Documentation: Maintain records of production output, machine settings, and quality checks. Complete shift reports and communicate with supervisors about production status. Requirements & Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (technical training is a plus). Experience in plastic extrusion or manufacturing is preferred. Knowledge of machine operation, troubleshooting, and quality control. Ability to read blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Physical ability to stand for long hours and lift heavy materials. Work Environment: Factory or production facility setting. Exposure to heat, noise, and plastic fumes. May require working in shifts, including nights and weekends.
