Project Summary

As part of its ongoing work on emerging themes in education, Pratham is expanding its focus on AI in Education, exploring how artificial intelligence can be used to enhance learning, teaching, and educational system design. The initiative aims to build a strong conceptual and practical framework for integrating AI tools and approaches into education delivery, with a focus on accessibility, equity, and real-world classroom impact.

To guide this work, Pratham is seeking to engage an expert consultant who can help design and develop the thematic direction, conceptual framework, and delivery approach for the AI in Education program. This will ensure that Pratham’s efforts in this space are informed by global best practices, grounded in evidence, and aligned with its mission to make quality education accessible to all.

Position Summary

The Expert Consultant - AI in Education will work closely with the Pratham team to conceptualise and develop the framework, approach, and key components of the AI in Education initiative. The consultant will provide thought leadership, advise on strategy, and help shape the design and delivery model for implementation. This is a remote, short-term consultancy, ideal for a professional with deep expertise in education innovation, learning sciences, and the application of AI in educational contexts.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop a conceptual and strategic framework for Pratham’s AI in Education theme
• Advise on possible models for program design, delivery, and scaling
• Identify and review global best practices, research, and innovations in AI and education
• Work with Pratham teams to define key focus areas, content directions, and implementation pathways
• Provide expert inputs on pedagogy, technology integration, and ethics of AI in education
• Support in designing pilot initiatives, partnerships, and evaluation mechanisms
• Conduct virtual consultations and review meetings with internal teams
• Prepare concise reports, briefs, and presentations summarizing recommendations

Required Skills and Experience

• Advanced degree or certification in Education & AI, Learning Sciences, Educational Technology, or a related field
• Demonstrated expertise or research experience in AI in Education, EdTech, or digital learning
• Strong conceptual understanding of teaching-learning processes and technology integration
• Experience in designing education frameworks, programs, or large-scale interventions
• Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and remotely with diverse teams
• Prior experience working with NGOs, multilaterals, or education research organizations preferred

Engagement Details and Remuneration

• Engagement Type: Short-term consultancy (remote)
• Duration: Approximately 2–3 months (extendable based on project needs)
• Remuneration: Commensurate with experience and expertise
• Location: Remote (occasional virtual meetings with the Pratham team)
