Exim Manager

Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop and execute export import strategies aligned with business goals and international market requirements.
• Identify and implement opportunities to reduce logistics costs, improve lead times, and enhance service levels.
• Evaluate and select global freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers, CHA partners, and logistics providers.

2. Export Management

• Lead the preparation, review, and approval of all export documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, COO, LC documents, shipping bills, etc.).
• Oversee vessel/air cargo bookings, load planning, and coordination with production and sales teams to meet dispatch timelines.
• Monitor and guide teams on LC compliance, bank documentation, and post-shipment formalities.
• Resolve issues related to delayed shipments, customs challenges, documentation gaps, or customer requirements.

3. Import Management

• Oversee import documentation including Bill of Entry, HS code classification, licenses, and regulatory permits.
• Manage coordination with overseas suppliers, freight forwarders, and CHA for timely clearance.
• Optimize duty structures and manage benefits under schemes such as EPCG, Advance Authorization, DFIA, etc.
• Ensure accurate duty payments, landed cost calculations, and compliance with DGFT and customs norms.

4. Compliance & Regulatory Governance

• Ensure 100% adherence to EXIM policies, DGFT regulations, Customs Act, FEMA, WTO norms, and international trade rules.
• Maintain documentation for customs audits, internal audits, and statutory inspections.
• Develop SOPs and compliance frameworks to minimize risks and avoid penalties.

5. Team Leadership & Collaboration

• Lead and mentor the EXIM team; conduct training on documentation, compliance, Incoterms, and best practices.
• Collaborate with finance, supply chain, logistics, production, sales, and legal teams to ensure cross-functional alignment.
• Build strong relationships with government authorities, banks, and international trade partners.

6. Analytics, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

• Track key logistics metrics: freight cost, lead time, turnaround time, duty impacts, and export incentives.
• Present monthly and quarterly EXIM performance reports to senior management.
• Drive digitalization of EXIM processes through ERP/automation tools and data accuracy improvements.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

• Bachelor degree in International Business, Logistics, Commerce, or a related field.
• MBA in International Business or Certification in EXIM/Global Trade preferred.

Experience

• 5 - 10+ years of progressive experience in export import operations.
• Minimum 5 years in a managerial or senior supervisory role.

Skills

• Deep knowledge of INCOTERMS, global trade practices, customs regulations, DGFT guidelines, and banking documentation.
• Strong negotiation skills for dealing with carriers, freight forwarders, and vendors.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP/Oracle/ERP Next) and advanced Excel.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and risk-management mindset.
