Job Description


Summary:

The Export and Import Compliance Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's export and import activities, ensuring full compliance with national and international laws, regulations, and company policies. This role requires a deep understanding of customs procedures, trade agreements, and compliance management.

The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the renewable energy or manufacturing sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Compliance Management:

Develop, implement, and maintain a robust export and import compliance program.

stay updated on all relevant national and international trade regulations, including customs laws, tariffs, sanctions, and licensing requirements.

Conduct regular internal audits to ensure compliance with all trade regulations.

Act as the primary point of contact for all compliance-related inquiries from internal teams and external agencies.

• Documentation and Procedures:

Oversee the preparation and submission of all necessary export and import documentation, including Bills of Lading, Certificates of Origin, commercial invoices, and packing lists.

Ensure accurate Harmonised System (HS) code classification for all products. o Manage and maintain records of all import/export transactions and compliance activities.

Customs and Logistics:

Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and logistics partners to ensure smooth and efficient customs clearance.

Resolve any issues related to customs holds, inspections, or penalties.

Optimise customs duty and tax payments through effective use of free trade agreements (FTAs) and other duty-saving programs.

Training and Communication:

Provide training to internal teams (e.g., sales, logistics, procurement) on export and import compliance requirements.

Communicate changes in regulations and their impact on the business to relevant stakeholders.

Risk Management:

Identify potential risks related to international trade and develop mitigation strategies. o Ensure compliance with all anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws (e.g., FCPA).

Government Bodies and Required Knowledge

The ideal candidate must have working knowledge of, and experience interacting with, the following key Indian government bodies and international trade regulations: • Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT): Knowledge of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), obtaining Importer Exporter Code (IEC), and various export promotion schemes. • Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC): Expertise in customs valuation, classification (HSN codes), customs procedures, and the Indian Customs Electronic Gateway (ICEGATE). • Export Promotion Councils (EPCs): Understanding the role of various EPCs, such as the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) and their importance for specific product categories. • Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR): Knowledge of anti-dumping and countervailing duties, including the process for investigations and their impact on imported goods.
