Job Description

Purpose of the position Ensure plant locations are operating in a safe manner at its best efficiency point, in sync with business need and in compliance with internal and external regulations. The position holder will be responsible for Leading, directing, and overseeing purchasing activities. Import & Export clearance for Project and Raw material and consumables Item and also new vendor development for achieving highest level of Cost benefit for the Company Principal responsibilities Maintaining 100 % compliance in SHEQ (Safety Health Environment & Quality) requirements related to Process Safety. Deliver per annual SHEQ plan by issuing safety bulletins and training modules, participating in Hazop , PSSR programs and Process Safety Assessments. Support locations in achieving productivity targets Ensure timely reporting of key metrics (external and internal groups) Involve in Annual budgeting process as relevant Leading, directing, and overseeing purchasing activities. Managing relationships with vendors. Analyzing technical requirements. Identifying suitable suppliers. Negotiating contracts. Determining the cost, quality, and availability of components. Ensuring that products needed for projects are available and meet quality specifications. Managing all Export & Import activities - Processing Import & Export Quotations & Purchase Orders, Expediting, Price / terms negotiation, custom clearance & shipment documentation, Packaging. Interaction & follow-up with regulatory/ licensing authorities like DGFT, CCOE, Custom House Agents (CHA), Customs dept., Freight Forwarders & Shipping agents Shipment Management, Scheduling, Tracking & Lead time control Developing the logistics network for ensuring seamless, cost-effective movement of consignment and timely delivery of orders Reducing logistics cost & transaction costs Planning & arranging Inland (Road) transport logistics for movement of import containers/packages. Act as a facilitator to resolve customer issues Key Interfaces Users Departments & Business Teams Finance & Treasury Department Clearing Agent & and Forwarding agent Customers for Third Party Project Customs Department (on a case-to-case basis) Required critical behaviors Ability to lead and develop a distributed cross-cultural multinational team Ability to take right decision under pressure, based on facts Ability to influence/convince cross functional teams including superiors Strong problem solving and analytical skills Excellent oral & written communication skills in English language to explain and document reasoning for decisions. Required key skills (functional/technical): Negotiation Skills Communication Skills Time Management & Prioritization Problem solving ability Conflict resolution MS Office, SAP (MM), JDE, Share point Tools Awareness on Government Foreign Trade policies and rules Understanding of the Customs Law Understanding of the Logistics Markets & Players (Liners, FF, CHA etc.) Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt certification is an added advantage Required qualifications/experience Bachelors/master’s in degree 3-7 years of experience in Procurements in import and export documentation-oriented function in any industry
