Role & responsibilities : EHS Policy Development and Implementation: Assist in the creation and implementation of EHS policies, procedures, and standards. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations. Work closely with department heads to integrate EHS initiatives into daily operations. Risk Assessments and Safety Audits: Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards in the workplace. Implement corrective actions and follow up on the completion of safety measures to reduce risks. Ensure that all necessary inspections (e.g., fire safety, machinery safety) are carried out in accordance with legal and company standards. Incident Investigation and Reporting: Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend preventive actions. Prepare detailed reports of incidents, including corrective actions and lessons learned. Ensure all incidents are documented and reported to management in a timely manner. Employee Training and Awareness: Develop and conduct safety training programs for employees on topics such as fire safety, first aid, emergency preparedness, hazardous material handling, and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) usage. Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization. Ensure employees are aware of and comply with EHS policies and procedures. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the company complies with all relevant EHS laws, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001). Monitor changes in EHS legislation and recommend necessary adjustments to the companys EHS programs. Maintain all necessary permits, records, and documentation required by regulatory bodies. Environmental Management: Support the implementation of the companys environmental management system to reduce the environmental impact of operations. Coordinate activities related to waste management, pollution control, and resource conservation. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to air, water, and waste management. Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans for various potential emergencies (e.g., fire, chemical spills, natural disasters). Conduct regular emergency drills to ensure employees are prepared to respond effectively in the event of an emergency. Act as a liaison with local authorities, such as fire departments and environmental agencies, in emergency situations. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving safety practices, procedures, and equipment. Implement best practices in EHS management to continuously improve workplace safety and environmental sustainability. Analyze EHS performance metrics and provide recommendations for improvement. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare EHS reports for senior management, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) and progress toward EHS goals. Maintain accurate records of safety training, incidents, risk assessments, and inspections. Participate in audits and provide documentation to demonstrate compliance with EHS standards. Preferred candidate profile : Education: Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Certifications: Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or equivalent will be added advantage. Technical Skills: Proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite is a plus
