Environmental Engineer

Regulatory compliance:

·        Ensure company operations comply with all applicable laws including environmental, waste management, EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility), and pollution control regulations.

·        Maintain up-to-date knowledge of government rules issued by bodies such as CPCB, SPCB, MoEFCC, and other relevant authorities.

·        Prepare, review, and submit mandatory compliance reports, licenses, and renewals (e.g., Pollution Control Board consents, authorization for handling e-waste/plastic waste/hazardous waste).

 Environmental & Safety Compliance

·        Monitor and audit environmental performance to ensure adherence to emission, discharge, and waste disposal standards.

·        Collaborate with plant and operations teams to implement safe waste-handling procedures and ensure occupational health and safety compliance.

·        Liaise with third-party auditors and environmental consultants for compliance audits and certifications (ISO 14001, etc.).

Corporate Governance & Ethics

·        Develop and maintain internal policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that align with statutory requirements and ethical practices.

·        Conduct employee awareness and training programs on compliance and sustainability policies.

·        Investigate compliance breaches, maintain records, and recommend corrective actions.

·        Reporting & Documentation

·        Maintain accurate compliance registers, permits, and documentation.

·        Prepare periodic compliance status reports for management and regulatory authorities.

·        Support internal and external audit processes related to environmental and operational compliance.

·        Qualifications & Experience

·        Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Law, Industrial Safety, or a related discipline.

·        Experience: 3–7 years of relevant experience in compliance or environmental management (preferably in recycling, waste management, or manufacturing industries).

·        Certifications (Preferred): ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, EHS certification, or equivalent.

·        Strong understanding of environmental and waste management regulations (EPR, Hazardous Waste Rules, Plastic Waste Management Rules, etc.).

·        Excellent documentation and reporting skills.

·        Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

·        Effective communication and liaison skills with regulatory bodies.

·        Ethical mindset with the ability to promote a culture of compliance.

·        Performance Indicators (KPIs)

·        Zero non-compliance incidents or penalties.

·        Timely submission of all regulatory filings and renewals.

·        Successful completion of environmental and safety audits.

·        Improvement in internal compliance awareness and training coverage.
