Engineering Manager

Job Description

Lead a team owning and building critical services for the Real-time Reporting and Analytics vision at Zendesk Work with leaders across Engineering and Product Management to define how the engineering teams align with our long-term roadmap Define, implement and deliver long and short-term business and technology initiatives collaboratively to optimize development and security, increase team efficiency, and support business objectives Own services, products, and projects delivery across multiple teams with global dependencies Provide mentorship, guidance and technical direction to the team for their growth while improving software delivery and ensuring team happiness What you bring to the role 7+ years in software engineering with 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership or management role Good understanding of application development, microservices and event driven architectures Proven experience with large-scale cloud architecture preferably in a SaaS environment Hands-on experience with real-time data pipelines, stream processing and OLAP databases (e.g ClickHouse, Snowflake, Kafka, ElasticSearch etc) Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Ruby or Python with a focus on system optimization and performance Strong communication and collaboration with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders globally Proven prioritization skills, to focus your time and energy on areas of highest impact while balancing short-term and long-term growth Dedication to continual self-development and fostering a learning environment within the team
