Job Description

About the opportunity: We are seeking an experienced and proactive Transmission Engineer to join our team. This role requires a strong background in Transmission Assurance, hands-on troubleshooting, and support of telecommunications networks. You will be responsible for managing and ensuring the optimal performance of both SDH and DWDM networks, applying expertise in the field, and delivering exceptional customer service. What You Will Do: Transmission Assurance: Provide operational support and assurance for Transmission networks, including SDH (Level 1, 2, or 3) and DWDM networks. SDH Network Support: Operate and support SDH networks, preferably those manufactured by Marconi, Ericsson, or GPT. DWDM Network Support: Operate and support DWDM networks, preferably from Ciena, Marconi, or Ericsson. Incident Management & Troubleshooting: Apply triage and troubleshoot telecommunications network incidents related to transmission infrastructure, ensuring swift resolution of issues. Optic Fibre Infrastructure Management: Manage and optimize the optic fibre infrastructure, ensuring its availability and reliability. Jeopardy Management: Understand and implement jeopardy management principles to proactively identify and resolve potential network disruptions. ITIL & Change Management: Familiarize with ITIL methodologies and Change Management fundamentals, ensuring smooth and efficient processes. Team Collaboration: Work effectively within a team, supporting business and customer needs while maintaining a high level of professionalism. Trouble Ticket & Change Request Handling: Handle trouble tickets and change requests per SLA/WLA, ensuring timely response and resolution. Customer Service Requests (CSR): Analyze, troubleshoot, and provide corrective maintenance for complex faults and customer service requests. Emergency & On-Call Support: Handle emergencies and provide on-call support (24/7), ensuring that issues are resolved quickly and effectively. Solution Management: Manage customized business object templates/reports and coordinate with cross-functional teams (GSDC, PDU, PLM). Coordination with External Suppliers: Collaborate with external suppliers for 3rd Party (3PP) hardware support, ensuring timely resolution of hardware-related issues. What You Will Bring: Experience: Minimum 3 to 8 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years spent working in the Ericsson transmission domain. Technical Expertise: Solid knowledge and understanding of transmission infrastructure, including SDH and DWDM networks. Experience with optic fibre infrastructure management is highly desirable. Support Process Knowledge: Good understanding of support processes and best practices, with a customer-oriented approach. Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to contribute to improvements and changes actively. Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to meeting business and customer objectives under time constraints.
