Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Designing, developing, and testing software for the electric vehicle (EV) Motor controller.

·       Design of motor control Algorithms using tools like Matlab Simulink, Implementation of Control Algorithms using DSP/ Microcontroller and other related tools.

·       You would be responsible for creating efficient, reliable, and high-performance software for controlling the electric motor for EV and special purpose applications (BLDC, PMSM, SRM & Axial flux motor types

·       Embedded system design for motor control - This involves selecting appropriate microcontrollers, sensors, and other electronic components, as well as designing the hardware and software interfaces between these components.

·       System integration - Integrating the motor controller software with the broader vehicle control systems, including the battery management system, vehicle control unit, and other propulsion system components.

·       Conducting thorough testing and validation of the motor controller software and embedded systems to ensure they meet safety, performance, and reliability requirements. This may involve both simulated and real-world testing scenarios.

·       Performance Optimization- Identifying opportunities for improving the performance and efficiency of the motor controller software and embedded systems through code optimization, algorithm refinement, and hardware/software co-design.

·       Documentation - Creating comprehensive documentation for the motor controller software and embedded system design, including specifications, design documents, test plans, and user manuals.

·       Compliance and Standards- Ensuring that the motor controller software and embedded systems adhere to relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.

·       Benchmarking and generation of ideas for better performance, Quality, Cost, Weight.

·       Keep track of global trends in relevant technology, and regulations and develop long term road maps and appropriate work plans, Ability to solve difficult design problems with tight timing constraints.

·       Staying updated with the latest advancements in electric and hybrid vehicle technologies, control algorithms, embedded systems, and software engineering best practices to continuously enhance your skills and expertise and keeping record of it.


Education & Professional Qualification -

·       Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in Electronics / Entc engineering or a related field.

·       5 - 8 Years of design experience in Controller design industry

Knowledge and Experience -

·       Knowledge of complete life cycle of design of motor control algorithm, knowledge of different types of motors such as Interior permanent magnet motors (IPM), Surface permanent magnet motors (SPM), PMSM, BLDC, Axial flux motors used for traction and other purpose applications.

·       Knowledge of different theories and concepts of motor controller algorithms like field-oriented control (FOC) algorithms, pulse-width modulation (PWM) algorithms, Maximum torque per ampere (MTPA), Field weakening and other control strategies to ensure smooth and precise motor operation.

·       Knowledge of strategies for thermal management and tunning to improvise dynamic behavior

·       Hands on experience in design of motor controller algorithm proficient in different tools of control systems Design of motor control application like matlab Simulink etc.

·       Basic knowledge of programming/ coding using C/ C++ and matlab.

·       Knowledge and experience with the implementation motor controller algorithms using DSPs and microcontrollers

·       Knowledge about DFMEA and fault tree analysis, Automotive industry standards and regulations, knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO26262)

·       Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex Embedded systems.

·       Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

·       Knowledge of Control algorithm for the internal combustion engine, and of hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) will be a added advantage.


Mandatory Skillls :-

Min 3 Years of design experience in Controller design industry

Hands on experience in design of motor controller algorithm proficient in different tools of control systems Design of motor control application like matlab Simulink etc.

Education & Professional Qualification - BE, BTECH (Electronic /E&TC engineering or a related electronic field)
