Elixir Functional Programmer

Role Overview: You will be joining Sonata Software as an Elixir Functional Programmer based in Hyderabad. As a part of the Modernization Engineering team, you will be responsible for working on legacy system modernization projects and leveraging functional programming principles to enhance complex codebases. Your role will involve understanding distributed systems, reverse engineering undocumented systems, and making migration decisions across multiple languages. Additionally, you will play a key role in mentoring team members, making architectural decisions, and collaborating with offshore development teams. Key Responsibilities: - Utilize your 5+ years of functional programming experience with Elixir, Erlang, Clojure, or Haskell to enhance legacy systems - Apply deep understanding of functional programming principles and OTP concepts like GenServers and supervision trees - Work on Kafka for event streaming, message processing, and distributed data pipelines - Collaborate with technologies like Node.js, Python, and Go for migration targets - Demonstrate proficiency in MySQL, Redis for data persistence, and API design (REST, GraphQL) - Engage in leadership activities by mentoring team members, providing strong documentation, and making architectural decisions Qualifications Required: - Minimum 5 years of functional programming experience with Elixir, Erlang, Clojure, or Haskell - Proven track record in legacy system modernization and polyglot programming - Understanding of distributed systems, concurrent programming, and actor model architectures - Proficiency in Node.js, Python, or Go for migration targets - Experience with MySQL, Redis databases, and API design (REST, GraphQL) - Strong mentoring, communication, and offshore team collaboration skills Company Details: Sonata Software is a leading Modernization Engineering company headquartered in Bengaluru, India, with a strong global presence.
