Job Description

Position Name:Electrical EngineerLocation: PuneBackgroundHoltec International and its subsidiary companies are designing an unfailingly safe and securesource of clean energy using nuclear fission, called the SMR-300. This position is offered by HoltecAsia, a member of the Holtec International family, a global turnkey supplier of technologies for thenuclear and sustainable energy industries. Join a growing multidisciplinary team contributing tothe safe and efficient design of advanced nuclear energy solutions.As an electrical engineer, you will carry out the design and development of electrical systemscrucial to the SMR-300. Your role will encompass defining approaches to deliver the SMR-300design, ensuring adherence to safety standards, supporting the development of the safety case, andfostering a collaborative environment conducive to innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of nuclear safety functional requirements for SMR electrical systems.
  • Facilitate the development of engineering requirements.
  • Lead authorship for SMR electrical design documents.
  • Support interactions with regulators to aid understanding of the electrical system design.
  • Ensure that required codes and standards are met.
  • Participate in design change management activities and provide design solutions through
critical thinking, research, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and suppliers.
  • Contribute to the creation of technical documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Prepare design deliverables, presentations, and effectively communicate progress in
stakeholder meetings.
  • Actively engage in project-driven engineering teams, providing leadership and expertise in
design development.
  • Identify and implement improvements to working processes and procedures.
  • Manage tasks autonomously while balancing competing priorities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Extensive experience in the principles of electrical engineering, particularly in other highly
regulated safety critical systems e.g. petrochemicals, defence etc.
  • Strong credentials in designing and assessing electrical systems, including:
  • On-site distribution (AC and DC)
  • Off-site interfaces (substation)
  • Grounding and lightning protection
  • Plant lighting systems
  • Battery systems
  • Diesel generators
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with credibility to engage effectively at all organizational levels
and with external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in crafting robust justifications and arguments.
  • Experience in managing design deliverables, ensuring error-free outputs.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance processes and requirements.

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Prior experience in nuclear or safety critical systems.
  • Exposure to fabrication and construction activities.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
