Role Overview: As a Mid-level Electrical Engineer at CDM Smith, you will be responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing, budgeting, and coordinating complex assignments. You will plan and develop projects that address unique or controversial problems with a significant impact on major CDM Smith programs. Your role will involve maintaining liaison with individuals and units within or outside the organization, acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the specialty field. Additionally, you will represent CDM Smith in conferences, mentor Junior level Engineers, and adhere to the company's core values and code of professional conduct. Key Responsibilities: - Actively participate or assist in new business development by contributing to strategic planning, marketing, and business operations planning - Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct a large and important project or several small projects with many complex features - Refine your project management skills and coordinate and review the work of a small staff of engineers (typically 3 to 5) - Visualize and assume responsibility for new business development activities within areas of expertise - Use advanced techniques and expertise in Electrical design resulting from progressive experience - Supervise and coordinate the work of CADD Operators, technicians, and others assisting in specific assignments - Review shop drawings and assist with general construction services - Develop design criteria, specifications, and standards - Conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of standard techniques and criteria - Plan, investigate, and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation - Participate in new business development by establishing and monitoring budgets - Stay updated on changes in the field of Electrical engineering and motivate junior level staff - Perform project management functions for small and moderate-sized projects - Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct several large and important projects or a project of major scope and complexity - Conceive, plan, and conduct research in problem areas of considerable scope and complexity Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering - Minimum 20 years of experience in detailed design for high voltage substation projects through 345kV including protective relay schemes, relay schematics, wiring diagrams, grounding and lightning protection design, AC/DC systems, specification of substation outdoor equipment, SCADA and other communication systems, and more - Experience with reviewing drawings/models developed using AutoCAD, Revit, etc. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Power Point) Preferred Qualifications: - Master's degree in Electrical Engineering - Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) - Experience in designing electrical systems for water/wastewater and other industrial/facilities projects - Professional Engineering certification from accredited agencies is preferred - Experience with reviewing drawings/models developed using Revit Amount of Travel Required: 0% Company Additional Details: CDM Smith Inc. and its divisions and subsidiaries reserve the right to require background checks, including criminal, employment, education, licensure, etc., as well as credit and motor vehicle checks for certain positions.
