They provide guidance, support, and resources to help students succeed in their chosen paths, whether that be academic, professional, or personal. They also collaborate with other school staff and families to support student well-being. Key Responsibilities of an Education Counsellor: Academic Guidance:Helping students choose courses, develop study habits, and manage academic stress. Assisting with college applications, including essays, interviews, and financial aid. Career Exploration:Helping students explore different career paths, identify their interests and skills, and develop career goals. Providing resources and referrals to external organizations or professionals. Personal Support:Identifying and addressing students' emotional, social, and behavioral needs. Providing crisis intervention services and connecting students with mental health resources. Collaboration:Working with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support students' learning and well-being. Maintaining detailed records and documentation of student interactions. Example Duties:Conducting assessments to identify student strengths and weaknesses.Developing and implementing counseling strategies tailored to individual student needs.Organizing workshops and events related to academic and career planning.Providing one-on-one counseling sessions to address student concerns.Referrals to external agencies for mental health support.Helping students build their resumes, cover letters, and profiles for college applications.Collaborating with teachers to develop innovative teaching methods and learning experiences.
