DR Planning Expert / ITIL Service Continuity Consultant

Job Description

The role encompasses the complete planning, coordination, and implementation of a comprehensive Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) according to ITIL guidelines, particularly within the IT Service Continuity Management (ITSCM) process. The expert first analyzes all IT services in close collaboration with the business, assessing their criticality, availability, and risks. Business Impact Analysis (BIA) is used to prioritize services and define Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO). A company-wide DR strategy is then developed that covers organizational, technical, and procedural measures—including resource planning, responsibility allocation, and escalation management. Particular focus is placed on integration into existing incident and change management processes. The expert plans regular tests (e.g., DR drills, failover tests) and ensures continuous updates and training for all involved parties. In an international context like this, regulatory requirements of different countries (e.g., UAE Central Bank, BaFin, GDPR) must also be observed. The DR strategy must be coordinated with stakeholders in different time zones. In addition to the technical implementation, alignment with business continuity requirements and close coordination with security and compliance teams are expected. The goal: to ensure the recoverability of all business-critical services within the defined tolerances. What needs to be done?
