Role Overview: As the Engineering Director at Salesforce, you will demonstrate deep business, industry, and product knowledge to ensure customer success by effectively managing a team of Engineers and Architects. You will specialize in one or more lines of business or a specific cloud/industry, speaking the customer language and ensuring customer value realization. Your role will involve aligning with cloud strategy, building positive relationships, and helping customers progress on their digital journey. Key Responsibilities: - Drive the execution and delivery of features by collaborating with cross-functional teams, architects, product owners, and engineering managers - Make critical decisions that contribute to the success of the product - Proactively foresee issues and resolve them before they occur - Partner with Product Management to align with objectives, priorities, tradeoffs, and risks - Ensure teams have clear priorities and adequate resources - Empower the delivery team to self-coordinate - Provide technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members - Maintain high morale and motivate the delivery team to excel - Advocate for technical excellence and support the team in making good decisions - Participate in architecture discussions, planning, and multi-functional coordination - Encourage the company culture by interviewing and hiring qualified individuals Qualifications Required: - A related technical degree is required - Minimum of 10 years leading software engineering teams with a distinguished track record on technically fast-paced projects - Experience in leading large-scale distributed systems and working with microservices or distributed architecture - Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational and time management skills - Ability to be flexible, proactive, and comfortable working with minimal specifications - Experience with short release cycles, full software lifecycle, and working on products released for public consumption - Experience in hiring, mentoring, and leading engineers - Familiarity with software engineering best practices, Agile development methodologies, and communicating with users and technical teams Additional Details: The company, Salesforce, is looking for technically strong, energetic, highly collaborative, and passionate leaders to lead their software engineering teams.
