DGM PRODUCTION & DGM QUALITY FOR A LEADING AEROSPACE INDUSTRY AT CHENNAI Position # 1 Job Description: Deputy General Manager (DGM) - Production Industry: Aerospace Precision Components Manufacturing Location: Chennai, Tambaram Reports To: General Manager/VP of Operations Job Summary: The Deputy General Manager (DGM) - Production will oversee and manage the end-to-end production process for aerospace precision components. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality manufacturing operations while adhering to strict aerospace industry standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in precision manufacturing, lean production methodologies, and leadership in a highly regulated environment. Key Responsibilities: Production Planning and Execution: Develop and implement production plans to meet customer delivery schedules and quality standards. Optimize production processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure on-time delivery. Monitor production metrics (e.g., OEE, cycle time, yield) and implement corrective actions as needed. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing production team, including supervisors, engineers, and operators. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and accountability. Ensure adequate staffing and training to meet production demands. Quality and Compliance: Ensure all production activities comply with aerospace industry standards (e.g., AS9100, NADCAP). Collaborate with the Quality team to address non-conformances and implement corrective actions. Maintain documentation and records as per regulatory requirements. Cost Management: Manage production budgets and control costs without compromising quality or safety. Identify opportunities for cost reduction through process improvements and resource optimization. Technology and Innovation: Stay updated with advancements in aerospace manufacturing technologies and implement best practices. Drive automation and digitalization initiatives to enhance production capabilities. Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing HSE policies and procedures. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. A Masters degree is a plus. Minimum of 12-15 years of experience in precision manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the aerospace industry. In-depth knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, welding, and assembly. Strong understanding of quality standards such as AS9100, NADCAP, and ISO 9001. Proven experience in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Key Responsibilities: Quality Management System (QMS): Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the QMS in compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, and other relevant standards. Conduct internal and external audits to ensure adherence to quality standards. Manage certification and recertification processes with regulatory bodies. Quality Assurance and Control: Develop and enforce quality control procedures for incoming materials, in-process production, and finished goods. Analyze quality data to identify trends, root causes, and areas for improvement. Ensure timely resolution of customer complaints and non-conformances. Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of quality engineers, inspectors, and technicians. Provide training and guidance on quality standards, tools, and methodologies. Foster a culture of quality and accountability across the organization. Supplier Quality Management: Collaborate with the procurement team to evaluate and qualify suppliers. Conduct supplier audits and ensure compliance with quality requirements. Address supplier-related quality issues and drive corrective actions. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other methodologies. Implement advanced quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, and APQP. Monitor and report on key quality metrics (e.g., PPM, scrap rate, rework rate). Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all aerospace industry regulations and customer-specific requirements. Stay updated with changes in regulatory standards and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related field. A Masters degree is a plus. Minimum of 12-15 years of experience in quality management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the aerospace industry. In-depth knowledge of aerospace quality standards such as AS9100, NADCAP, and ISO 9001. Strong expertise in quality tools and methodologies (e.g., FMEA, SPC, APQP, PPAP). Proven experience in leading audits and managing certification processes. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in quality management software and ERP systems.
