Database Administrator with one year experience

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and maintain our organization's databases. The DBA will ensure database performance, availability, and security, and play a key role in designing and implementing database solutions to support business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS) such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
• Monitor database performance and proactively optimize and tune systems for performance and reliability.
• Ensure high levels of data integrity, availability, and security.
• Perform regular backups and recovery procedures; ensure disaster recovery plans are in place.
• Create and manage database user accounts and enforce access controls.
• Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide technical support to developers and other staff.
• Develop scripts for automation of routine tasks.
• Plan and implement database upgrades, migrations, and patches.
• Collaborate with development teams to design and optimize data models and schemas.
• Maintain documentation of systems, procedures, and configurations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of database languages such as SQL and PL/SQL.
• Experience with database security, backup and recovery, and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with cloud-based databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL) is a plus.
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications such as Oracle DBA, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, or AWS Certified Database – Specialty.
• Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) is a plus.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines for database management.

Working Conditions:

• May require after-hours or weekend work for system maintenance or incident response.
• On-call availability may be expected.
