Job Title: Database Administrator Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and motivated Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, migration, and optimization of database systems across cloud and on-premises environments. This role requires hands-on expertise in database backup and recovery, security management, automation, and compliance with governance standards. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including cybersecurity, auditors, and developers to ensure database availability, performance, and security in a 24x7 production environment. Key Responsibilities Install, upgrade, patch, migrate, and maintain database systems ensuring optimal performance and availability. Manage database backup and recovery procedures, ensuring data integrity and security. Design and manage physical data storage and database access security. Set up and manage databases in AWS and lead migration efforts from on-premises to cloud platforms. Implement database standardization and governance practices to comply with organizational policies. Develop automation scripts using PowerShell and manage automation tools such as Ansible to streamline database operations. Collaborate with auditors during external audits, assist in data validation, and implement required fixes. Identify and remediate database security vulnerabilities in close coordination with the Information/Cyber Security team. Apply ITIL processes including Incident, Service Request, Change, and Problem management to ensure smooth database operations. Support multiple RDBMS platforms including MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, and cloud-based databases (AWS, GCP). Participate in 24x7 production support, including on-call and weekend rotations. Stay updated on emerging database technologies including NoSQL databases and containerization; contribute to adoption where applicable. Required Qualifications and Skills Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications in MSSQL, Azure, MySQL, or equivalent cloud/database technologies. Strong experience in database installation, configuration, backup/recovery, patching, and performance tuning. Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell and experience with automation tools like Ansible. Experience with cloud database services (AWS, GCP) and database migration from on-premises to cloud. Working knowledge of ITIL processes related to database management. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex database issues. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Willingness to work in shifts and support 24x7 production environments, including on-call and weekend duties. Preferred Qualifications Certification in ITIL or Scrum frameworks. Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra). Familiarity with database containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). Exposure to multiple RDBMS platforms beyond primary expertise. Prior experience handling external audits and compliance requirements. Work Environment This role requires flexibility to work in shifts and participate in on-call rotations to support critical production systems.
