Description
As an Engineering Manager at Roblox, you will be responsible for establishing and leading a high-performing data engineering team for the Roblox Operating System (ROS) in India. You will collaborate with US-based ROS and Data Engineering teams, as well as the People Science & Analytics team, to build scalable data pipelines, robust infrastructure, and impactful insights. By working closely with the US ROS Engineering Manager, you will set high technical standards, champion leadership principles, and drive innovation while shaping the future of data engineering at Roblox. **Key Responsibilities:** - **Build and Lead:** Attract, hire, mentor, and inspire a team of exceptional engineers with varied strengths. Create a collaborative and inclusive environment where everyone thrives. - **Set the Bar:** Establish and maintain a high standard for technical excellence and data quality. Ensure your team delivers reliable, scalable, and secure solutions that adhere to Roblox's engineering principles. Be prepared to be hands-on by coding, contributing to reviews, and engaging in technical design discussions. - **Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Partner with data scientists, analysts, product and engineering teams, and other stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions. - **Strategic Planning:** Contribute to the overall engineering strategy for Roblox India. Identify opportunities for innovation and growth, and prioritize projects that deliver the most value to our users. - **Continuous Improvement:** Foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement within your team. Encourage experimentation, knowledge sharing, and the adoption of new technologies. **Qualifications:** - **Proven Leadership:** Demonstrated experience in leading and scaling data engineering teams, preferably in a high-growth environment. - **Technical Expertise:** Solid understanding of data engineering principles and best practices for data governance. Experience in building scalable data pipelines using frameworks like Airflow. Proficiency in SQL, relational databases, data warehouse solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery), data streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis, Spark), containerization (e.g., Docker), and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). - **Roblox Alignment:** Strong alignment with Roblox's leadership principles, emphasizing respect, safety, creativity, and community. - **Excellent Communication:** Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with team members, stakeholders, and leaders across the organization. - **Problem-Solving:** Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to tackle complex challenges and develop creative solutions. - **Passion for Roblox:** Genuine excitement for the Roblox platform and the possibilities of the metaverse.
