We at CivicDataLab (CDL), work with the goal to use data, tech, design and social science to strengthen the course of civic-engagements in India. We work to harness the potential of the open-source movement to enable citizens to engage better with public reforms. Our work is centered around building data strategy, data platforms and data science applications to push data-driven decision-making at scale. Moreover, we work closely with governments, non-profits, think tanks, media houses, academia and more to build overall data and tech capacity.
CivicDataLab is seeking a proactive Data Analyst Fellow (Delhi-based) to join our team. You will work on widely used open data platforms, helping to benchmark metadata against global standards and profile and clean large catalogs to enhance discoverability and access. In the process, you will empower government and civil-society stakeholders to make data-driven decisions.
What We're Looking For:
A hands-on data professional with experience in metadata standards (specifically Dublin Core, DCAT or any other metadata standards), knowledge of Python/SQL skills is good to have and a keen eye for quality who can translate deliverables for large volumes of data
Key Responsibilities:
Establish a framework for evaluating metadata quality - Define metadata-quality KPIs (completeness, update-frequency, PII flags).
Build a reference matrix to map and align commonly used metadata standards.
Analyze data catalogs and datasets from source platform to assess usability, and quality.
Clean, standardize, and enrich metadata in iterative batches
Develop automated QA checks for completeness, consistency, and deduplication.
Present findings and incorporate feedback from stakeholders and CDOs.

Remuneration: INR 15000 to INR 25,000 per month; based on experience & qualification

Duration: This fellowship is for a minimum period of 6 months and subject to extension/converted to full-time based on performance exhibited throughout the fellowship term and mutual agreement between both the parties.
