Salem Campus - Salem Staff/Classified Closing on: Jun 11 2025 991052 Dean, Salem Campus - Salem Campus [500061] Add to favorites Favorited View favorites Job Title Custodial Worker (Regional Campuses) Physical Location: Salem Campus - Salem, OH Salary $14.02 hourly Basic Function Performs custodial duties to provide for care, cleaning and routine maintenance of buildings, furniture, and fixtures according to established work rules. Reports to Custodial Work Supervisor, Building and Grounds Supervisor/Superintendent, or other designated supervisor. Examples Of Duties Additional Basic Function – if applicable: Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: Sweeps, mops, scrubs, strips, waxes, and polishes to renew floor surfaces; cleans and shampoos carpets. Cleans, dusts, and waxes furniture and fixtures; shampoos upholstered furniture; washes walls; cleans glass and mirrors; removes and hangs drapes. Empties and cleans trash receptacles. Changes light bulbs and cleans light fixtures. Scrubs, cleans, and sanitizes restrooms and shower facilities; replenishes supplies. Moves and arranges furniture and equipment; may set up rooms for functions and events. Maintains a clean and orderly supply closet; monitors supply levels and reports supply needs to supervisor. May perform minor maintenance; may assist with painting. Reports evidence of fire, illegal entry, and theft of property. May remove snow and ice from walkways; may assist with mowing; may pick up paper and other debris in area surrounding buildings. May train and direct student or temporary employees; may participate in training new employees. Performs related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Additional Examples of Duties – if applicable: License/Certification Valid Ohio driver's license, if required by position. Knowledge Of Appropriate safety procedures Skill In Ability To: Operate cleaning equipment (e.g., buffers, shampooers, vacuums, hall machines) demonstrate physical dexterity and lift 50 pounds Read (e.g., warning labels), write (e.g., brief messages), and accurately follow oral and/or written instructions Perform basic mathematics (e.g., add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, and to calculate percentages) Identify threatening or unusual conditions and take appropriate action Assessments Preferred Qualifications – if applicable: Asterisk (*) indicates knowledge, skills, abilities which may require assessments. Assessments could take the form of interview questions, a request to provide work samples or a written or practical test to assess job related competencies. Working Conditions / Physical Requirements Exposed to dirt, odors, heights, cleaning chemicals, and variable temperatures and weather conditions; requires moderate physical effort to include frequent lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds (e.g., moving freight, cabinets, cases of supplies); frequent stooping and bending, climbing ladders, and extended periods of standing and walking; may work varied shifts and hours to include occasional weekends and holidays; may require on- and off-campus travel.
