Credit Underwriting Specialist

Role Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed credit assessment and underwriting for working capital products such as Cash Credit (CC), Overdraft (OD), Working Capital Demand Loans (WCDL), Supply Chain Financing, and Bills Discounting.
• Evaluate MSME/SME or B2B clients' financial health, analyzing balance sheets, P&L statements, and other financial documents to determine creditworthiness.
• Conduct a thorough risk analysis and determine the appropriate credit limits for clients based on their financials, credit history, and business profile.
• Prepare and review credit proposals, ensuring compliance with internal credit policies, risk management guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal teams such as Sales, Risk, and Operations to ensure smooth onboarding of clients.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of credit proposals and approvals.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to clients while adhering to risk guidelines.
• Monitor portfolio performance, identify potential risks, and take appropriate actions to mitigate credit exposure.
• Collaborate with senior management to provide insights on portfolio trends, client profiles, and risk factors.
• Work independently and contribute to the growth and success of the credit underwriting team.

Key Requirements:

• Minimum 3 to 7 years of experience in credit underwriting, with CA or Full time MBA. 
• Solid understanding and experience with core working capital products (CC/OD/WCDL/Supply Chain/Bills Discounting).
• Proven experience in underwriting MSME/SME credit or B2B portfolios with a focus on limits up to 50 Lac.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to assess financial documents and perform risk assessments.
• Experience working in an individual contributor role, demonstrating self-motivation, initiative, and accountability.
• Previous work experience in an NBFC or Bank is required (no candidates from Fintech or Unsecured Loans).
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills to engage with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
• Early joiners will be preferred.
