Primary Responsibility:

We are looking for an experienced credit professional to lead and manage the mortgage underwriting function for the region. The role involves credit appraisal, policy formulation, risk management, regulatory compliance, and ensuring portfolio quality across Home Loans and Loan Against Property (LAP).

Credit & Risk Management

• Recommend and approve credit applications in line with approved process workflows, policies, and Delegation of Authority (DOA), while identifying and mitigating all significant risks.
• Monitor delinquency levels and ensure timely follow-ups in coordination with Collections and Business teams to regularize overdues within defined timelines.
• Ensure the quality of the bank’s credit exposure remains acceptable at all times across the region.
• Maintain a NIL delinquent book and ensure zero audit lapses or adverse observations.

Market & Regulatory Knowledge

• Possess strong knowledge of the Indian Western market, particularly Mortgage products including Home Loans and Loan Against Property (LAP), with a clear understanding of associated risks.
• Additional knowledge of other regional markets will be an added advantage.
• Apply RBI regulations / MAS guidelines governing credit dispensation, including loan grading, provisioning, and asset classification norms.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of the legal framework applicable to banking operations in India and apply it effectively in credit decisions.

Team & Process Management

• Manage and monitor the regional underwriting team, providing support to achieve business targets.
• Frame and implement lending policy frameworks, processes, and workflows to ensure error-free operations across locations.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to mortgage counselors on credit policy, underwriting standards, and processes.
