Cost Estimator ( Sheet Metal Fabrication industry )

Job Description

Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced Cost Estimator with a mechanical engineering background and basic knowledge of SolidWorks to accurately estimate the cost of manufacturing commercial kitchen equipment . The role requires expertise in calculating costs from raw materials to Products , considering each manufacturing process, labor, and machine utilization in a sheet metal fabrication industry . Key Responsibilities: Cost Estimation & Analysis: Accurately estimate the total cost of commercial kitchen equipment manufacturing, covering all aspects from materials to finished product . Analyze raw material costs (SS304, SS316, Mild Steel, Aluminum, etc.), considering cutting, bending, welding, and finishing. Calculate costs for imported & local bought-out components (burners, control panels, electricals, fasteners, etc.). Manufacturing Process Costing: Break down the cost of each production stage, including laser cutting, punching, bending, welding, polishing, and assembly . Estimate labor costs based on man-hours required for fabrication, assembly, and finishing . Consider machine utilization costs for CNC machines, press brakes, welding stations, etc. Vendor & Supplier Costing: Source and compare prices from multiple vendors for materials and bought-out components. Negotiate and analyze supplier costs for better pricing and cost reduction. Design & BOM (Bill of Materials) Analysis: Work closely with the design team (SolidWorks users) to extract BOM and weight estimations for accurate costing. Ensure that the BOM covers all required fasteners, insulation materials, electrical components, and accessories . Cost Optimization & Reduction: Identify cost-saving opportunities through material selection, process improvements, or vendor negotiations. Work with the production team to find efficient manufacturing methods to reduce labor and overhead costs. Quotation & Pricing Strategy: Prepare cost sheets for new product development and custom equipment. Assist the sales team in pricing strategies to maintain competitive margins. Reporting & Documentation: Maintain costing databases for historical price trends and estimation reference. Provide detailed cost reports to management for decision-making.
