the the osition: Contract Manufacturing Manager Steel Industry Location: Gurugram Experience : Minimum of 5+ years of experience Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Contract Manufacturing Manager to oversee and manage the companys contract manufacturing operations within the steel industry. This role is responsible for identifying specialized manufacturing opportunities, onboarding external manufacturing partners to execute orders, while ensuring quality standards, cost objectives and profitability. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing outsourced production, vendor relationships, and supply chain logistics, with a focus on maximizing efficiency and profitability in contract manufacturing. Key Responsibilities: 1. Vendor Management & Relationship Building: Manage relationships with contract manufacturers and external vendors, ensuring alignment on production goals, timelines, and quality standards. Identify, negotiate, and onboard new contract manufacturing partners, ensuring they meet the companys technical, operational, and compliance requirements. Build strong, collaborative relationships with key manufacturing partners to ensure long-term success and mutual benefit. 2. Contract Negotiation & Compliance: Lead negotiations with contract manufacturers on pricing, scope of work, production schedules, ensuring favorable agreements that meet Metalbooks budgetary and operational needs. Ensure that all contract manufacturing agreements comply with relevant laws, safety regulations, and company policies. Oversee the creation, review, and management of contracts, ensuring they accurately reflect business expectations and performance metrics. 3. Production Oversight & Quality Control: Monitor and manage the production process at external manufacturing sites, ensuring adherence to agreed-upon timelines, quality standards, and production output targets. Implement and oversee quality assurance programs, ensuring that all manufactured products meet the required specifications and industry standards for steel products. Collaborate with the internal quality and engineering teams to address any production or quality issues promptly and effectively. 4. Supply Chain & Logistics Coordination: Work closely with supply chain, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure raw materials are delivered on time to contract manufacturers and that finished goods are transported to customers as per schedule. Ensure efficient coordination of the manufacturing process from raw material sourcing to final delivery, optimizing production flow and minimizing delays. 5. Cost Management & Efficiency Optimization: Drive cost savings initiatives by optimizing production processes, improving manufacturing efficiency, and negotiating better terms with contract manufacturers. Regularly review manufacturing costs, identify areas for cost reduction, and implement strategies to enhance profitability without compromising on quality or delivery times. 6. Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to contract manufacturing, including production timelines, output, quality metrics, and cost efficiency. Provide regular updates and reports to senior management, highlighting performance against targets and identifying potential areas for improvement or risk mitigation. 7. Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Identify opportunities for process improvements, technology upgrades, or innovations that can enhance production efficiency and product quality at contract manufacturing sites. Work with contract manufacturers to implement best practices and new manufacturing technologies, ensuring competitiveness in the market. Qualifications and Skills: Bachelors/Masters degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or a related field (MBA preferred). Strong knowledge of steel production processes, materials, and industry standards. Proven track record of managing relationships with external manufacturers, ensuring compliance with quality and production standards. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on optimizing production processes and cost efficiency. Experience with quality control systems, contract law, and regulatory compliance in the manufacturing industry. Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Willingness to travel as required to visit contract manufacturing sites and partners.
