Job Description

A Consultant ENT Surgeon is a senior-level medical professional specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of conditions related to the ears, nose, and throat (ENT). The role involves both surgical and non-surgical interventions to treat a wide range of conditions that affect the head and neck area. 1. Clinical Responsibilities : Diagnosis & Treatment : Diagnose and treat a wide range of ENT conditions, including hearing disorders, nasal problems, throat disorders, and head and neck cancers. Surgical Procedures : Perform both routine and complex ENT surgeries (e.g., tonsillectomies, sinus surgeries, ear surgeries, and reconstructive surgeries). Patient Care : Provide preoperative and postoperative care to patients, ensuring effective pain management, recovery, and follow-up care. Emergency Care : Provide emergency interventions and consultations for ENT-related medical issues, including trauma and life-threatening conditions. Multidisciplinary Teamwork : Collaborate with other healthcare professionals (e.g., anesthetists, radiologists, pathologists) in providing comprehensive patient care. 2. Leadership & Management : Clinical Supervision : Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, including ENT registrars, residents, and other healthcare providers. Operational Management : Ensure the efficient running of ENT services, including outpatient clinics, surgical theatres, and hospital wards. Clinical Governance : Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and risk management to ensure the highest standards of patient safety and care. 3. Teaching & Training : Teaching : Provide educational support to medical students, junior doctors, and nursing staff, and lead teaching programs on ENT topics. Research : Engage in clinical research, contribute to publications, and stay up-to-date with the latest advances in ENT medicine and surgery. Conferences & Continuing Education : Attend and present at relevant medical conferences, workshops, and seminars. 4. Administrative Responsibilities : Record Keeping : Maintain accurate and timely patient records, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and legal requirements.
