Consultant - Clean Air

Purpose

CEEW seeks to hire a consultant with good programming and data analysisskills to join the Clean Air team. The role will further help CEEW's Clean Air team raise the bar. The role primarily involves running and analysing data from air quality models and validating it with data from satellite-borne sensors, regulatory-grade monitoring, etc. The candidate is expected to have good presentation skills. In addition to the duties and responsibilities below, the individual should be prepared to take on additional responsibilities as and when necessary.

Job dutiesand accountabilities Primary Responsibilities Research

• Use modelling softwarelike WRF and CAMx to generate insightson the impact of meteorology and emissions on air quality in India.
• Validate the model output using data from monitoring stations, satellite-derived estimates, etc. Applystatistical and machinelearning models to correct biasesin the models.
• Assist the team in generating reports, policy memos, research papers,etc.

Programme assistance

• Support effective outreach of research outputsthrough coordination with the outreach team and engagement with a broader network of stakeholders and concerned policymakers.
• Participate in relevant conferences, workshops, and training programmes for a comprehensive understanding of developments relevantto the air quality sector.

Selection Criteria Qualification

Bachelor's/Master's degree in Physics/Atmospheric Science/Mechanical Engineering or related fields.

Work experience

• 1-2 years of experience. Work experience requirements may be relaxedfor exceptional candidates.

Key skills

• Ability to code proficiently in Python.
• Prior experience in a programming/data sciencerole.
• Ability to present the work in a lucid manner.
• Creative thinker with demonstrated success in implementing out-of-the-box content ideas.
• Demonstrated abilitiesto manage multiplepriorities, projects and internal/external resources in a fast-paced environment, while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
• Strong drive and initiative, a self-starter.

Desirable skills

• Ability to code in otherprogramming languages.
• Experience with GIS software.
• Prior experience with atmospheric modelling software will be an advantage.
