Job Title: Computer Instructor Location: Saksham Resource Centre, Rohru District, Himachal Pradesh Reporting To: Program Coordinator / Centre Manager Type: Full-time / Contractual About the Organization: Saksham Trust is a leading NGO working for the inclusion and empowerment of persons with visual impairments and other disabilities. Through education, technology, and accessibility interventions, Saksham enables persons with disabilities to lead independent and dignified lives. Job Summary: The Computer Instructor will be responsible for delivering computer training to students with visual impairments and other disabilities. The instructor will focus on basic to intermediate computer literacy, digital skills, and the use of assistive technologies for education and daily living. Key Responsibilities: Conduct regular computer classes tailored for visually impaired and low-vision students. Teach students to use screen readers (e.g., NVDA, JAWS), screen magnifiers, and accessible software. Provide training on MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, browsing, file management, etc. Train students to use educational tools such as Sugamya Pustakalaya, DAISY players, and accessible e-books. Create lesson plans and maintain student attendance and progress records. Assist with the maintenance of digital learning labs and IT infrastructure. Support other staff in integrating digital tools into teaching and resource creation. Conduct orientation and basic digital literacy workshops for teachers and caregivers. Troubleshoot basic hardware/software issues and coordinate with vendors if needed. Required Qualifications & Skills: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Applications, IT, or related field. At least 1–2 years of experience in teaching computer skills (preferably in a disability setting). Familiarity with assistive technologies such as NVDA, JAWS, Braille display integration, and accessible e-learning platforms. Basic troubleshooting knowledge of hardware and software issues. Good communication skills in Hindi and English. Patience and ability to work with students with varying learning needs. Preferred: Experience working with visually impaired students. Knowledge of local language/dialect in Himachal Pradesh. Certification in digital literacy or assistive technology (desirable but not mandatory).
