The Communications Specialist will play a key role in positioning Quest Alliance as a thought leader in the education and skilling ecosystem. The Specialist will drive media and PR efforts, collaborate closely with the research team to shape narratives, and lead strategic communication efforts for flagship events.The role will coordinate with internal teams to develop high-quality content, ensure strong design a with The Communications Specialist will play a key role in positioning Quest Alliance as a thought leader Planning, Execution and Achieving Results Develop Strategic Messaging for Organisation Communications Develop Messaging Strategies across Platforms Support Communication Strategy for Organisational events Creative writing and copy craft for various platforms Gather information from primary and secondary sources to produce relevant content with compelling narrative Convert stories/ impact from the field into marketing products Manage cadences for Newsletters and Blogs, and oversee messaging and quality. Support in fundraising communication Support in drafting scripts for video and other audio-visual products Sector level knowledge development Editing and Proof-reading Media Develop and anchor Media Strategy and Engagement for the organisation, including regional media strategies. Support regional/program teams in Media Engagement activities. Track coverage and PR initiatives in the sector and analyse coverage on a regular basis. Lead event Media strategy and engagement for the organisation. Thought Leadership and Strategic Communication Work closely with the research team to translate key insights into compelling narratives. Develop content that positions the organization as a leader in education, skilling, and social impact. Identify opportunities for leadership to contribute to sector discussions through speaking engagements, articles, and panel discussions. Craft messaging frameworks and key positioning statements for various audiences. Flagship Events and Campaigns Lead communication efforts for flagship events, ensuring strong branding and visibility. Manage pre-event publicity, live coverage, and post-event media engagement. Work with the design team to develop content and assets (press kits, social media campaigns, event brochures) to enhance event impact. Reporting Monitor media trends and coverage to inform PR strategy. Submit all the relevant reports on time. Ensure all the relevant data for your domain is available well in time Track progress based on the plans Share periodic reports with relevant stakeholders Be available for regular line management meeting and the appraisal processes Team Management - Lead, mentor, and manage a team and provide guidance, mentorship, and feedback to help them grow and succeed in their roles - Help them build their capacities in their current role and help them find pathways for growth . Adherence to Systems and Processes Adhere to all the finance and HR policies of the organisation Uphold the values of Quest Alliance Budget and financial management (maintain and set up project plans) for your area of work Investment in Self-Learning Identify the development needs and have the development goal (self learning) for the year in place Take ownership to track progress and for one s own learning Manage time effectively to meet tight deadlines Complete all the self learning goals for the year Requirements Bachelors / Masters degree; Communication, Design, Journalism or similar major is a plus 7+ years of experience working with content writing for the development sector in India or with a social media agency. Experience managing PR and visibility for large-scale events. Ability to work cross-functionally with research, fundraising, and leadership teams. Passion for social impact and education. Strong networking and relationship-building skills. Design content management (preferred): Working knowledge of design tools (Canva, Adobe Suite) and experience developing communication assets. Excellent English communications skills, both verbal, written and proofreading skills. Knowledge of other languages is a plus. Extensive experience using Microsoft office, Google Suite [Drive, Slides, Sheets and Docs] Working knowledge of graphic design and ability to work with a basic design tool like Canva / Photoshop would be preferred.
