POSITION SUMMARY: Plan, direct, and monitor all procurement activities so that the goods, materials, supplies, and services the organization buys meet its standards of price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply. Scope of responsibility up to $100 million USD. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned beyond the core functions listed below. 1 30% Establish and implement strategies for negotiating commodity purchase agreements based on in-depth knowledge of foreign and domestic markets for optimum pricing and terms. Lead Market Intelligence efforts for commodity under his/her responsibility. Manage and lead efforts on cost savings initiatives in line with a profit plan and overall business objectives. 2 20% Conduct e-auctions and lead negotiation for the assigned portfolio of spending categories. Usage of cost models to validate commodity strategies and to understand significant cost drivers. Acquire and maintain understanding of technology trends, market forces, cost trends, and supplier technology road maps. Forecast commodities costs and contribute to developing/updating budget impacted by the commodities under management. 3 20% Manage supply base by establishing and maintaining measurable performance metrics for all of procurement to ensure total cost. Mitigate price increases and find alternate supply base. Proactively organize Supplier Reviews and promptly address/mitigate supplier performance gaps. Support the plant for any critical issues related to suppliers. 4 20% Act as project manager (develop, manage and implement) for cross functional teams to build stakeholder alignment (Technical, RD, Sales Marketing, Regional and local teams, etc.) to meet objectives. 5 10% Contract management - review to ensure specific requirements are present, appropriate review and signing authority is present. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Functions as an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities REPORTING: Role will report directly to Metals Strategic Sourcing Sr. Director and on a dotted line to Sourcing Director for India and East-Asia. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 5 + years of progressive experience Minimum of BA/BS Degree with a business and/or technical major; REQUIRED SKILLS: Experience as a change agent in an organization. Analytical and project management skills Ability to travel up to 50% of time (80% domestic / 20% international) Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate across functional and multicultural lines. Good English verbal and written skills. Collaboration and influence management skills Demonstrated business acumen Strong proficiency with all Microsoft and MRP/Supply Chain systems Preference will be given to candidates with past experience purchasing Metals commodities, having had responsibility for multi-million dollar global spend and Indexed/Variable Pricing.
