Job Summary

The Commis I – Confectionery & Desserts is responsible for preparing, producing, and presenting high-quality desserts, pastries, and confectionery items. This role supports the Pastry Chef and ensures consistency, creativity, and compliance with food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and produce a variety of desserts, pastries, cakes, and confectionery items according to recipes and standards.
• Assist in creating new dessert concepts and seasonal offerings.
• Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry section and equipment.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures at all times.
• Assist the Pastry Chef with daily operations and planning.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages to the Pastry Chef or Sous Chef.
• Maintain high presentation standards for all plated and buffet desserts.
• Support training and guidance of junior pastry staff when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastry Chef or Executive Chef.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in pastry, bakery, or confectionery roles.
• Professional culinary or pastry training preferred.
• Strong knowledge of dessert production, baking techniques, and pastry tools/equipment.
• Creativity and attention to detail with a passion for desserts.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and time management skills.

Schedule

• Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
