The Commis I is a senior-level kitchen assistant with proven culinary skills and experience, responsible for advanced food preparation, mentoring junior staff, and supporting complex cooking operations. This position bridges the gap between junior commis roles and chef de partie positions. Key Responsibilities Advanced Food Preparation & Cooking Execute complex food preparation tasks with minimal supervision Prepare and cook dishes independently for specific menu items Manage multiple cooking processes simultaneously during service Ensure consistent quality and presentation of assigned dishes Assist in developing and testing new recipes and menu items Handle specialized cooking techniques and equipment Station Management Take responsibility for specific kitchen stations during service Coordinate with other stations to ensure timely food delivery Manage mise en place for assigned sections efficiently Monitor food quality and presentation standards throughout service Handle high-volume production during peak periods Maintain organization and cleanliness of assigned work areas Mentoring & Training Train and guide Commis I and Commis II staff Share knowledge of cooking techniques and procedures Provide feedback and support to junior kitchen staff Assist in onboarding new kitchen team members Lead by example in demonstrating best practices Help evaluate junior staff performance and development Quality Control & Standards Conduct quality checks on food preparation and presentation Ensure adherence to portion control and cost management Monitor food safety and sanitation compliance Identify and address quality issues promptly Maintain consistency across different shifts and service periods Support kitchen audits and inspections Advanced Kitchen Operations Assist in inventory management and ordering supplies Help plan production schedules and prep lists Support menu costing and recipe standardization Participate in kitchen meetings and planning sessions Handle special dietary requests and customizations Manage food waste reduction initiatives Leadership Support Act as a bridge between management and junior staff Communicate effectively across all kitchen hierarchy levels Support decision-making during busy service periods Handle conflict resolution among kitchen team members Assist in scheduling and staff allocation decisions Represent kitchen interests in cross-departmental meetings Job Type: Full-time Pay: Up to ₹26,000.00 per month Benefits: Food provided Health insurance Leave encashment Provident Fund Schedule: Rotational shift Supplemental Pay: Yearly bonus Work Location: On the road
