Job Description

As a Staff Engineer, you ll be part of Business Intelligence Product Area within Digital Banking and Operations domain leading engineering team for multiple applications (Digital Self Service, Digital Backbone, AXON etc.,). You will collaborate with Product Owners, Analysts, and Initiative Leads across various Technology Areas and Domains. Your role will involve promoting and implementing best practices in design, engineering, and asset and service implementation. Additionally, you will empower squads to quickly, reliably, and efficiently develop, test, and release high-quality solutions that drive value for customers. As a Lead/Staff Engineer you are recognised as a skilled engineering practitioner, with depth in at least one specialisation. As a craft leader, you have accountability for technical excellence, driving the right engineering practices and standards across a squad or group of squads. You guide other engineers to deliver quality solutions, sharing good practices through automation and education. You have a strong understanding of organisational context in addition to your technical know-how, making you a trusted advisor and go to for your specialisation for engineers, non-engineers and business leaders. Role Location: Manyata Tech Park Bengaluru Role Type: Permanent, Fulltime What will your day look like Lead a team to engineer and test software solutions to deliver large and/or complex enhancements and changes to applications and services, where the problem space may be ambiguous and lacking existing pattern Lead teams in requirements gathering activities to ensure delivered solutions are fit for purpose; actively identify ambiguities, or similarities with other deliveries, and ensure alignment to ANZ s design, infrastructure and observability standards, and strategic direction Provide direction and guidance to skilled resources to ensure delivery, security and operational risks are identified. Help others to identify and deliver appropriate controls or mitigations including risks to other parts of the organisation Demonstrate a systemic view of the solution by raising potential impacts and limitations to upstream and downstream systems and stakeholders Take ownership/accountability for the creation, revision, and drive adoption of code management practices including: source code management, peer-reviews, CI/CD automation to ensure the quality, security and consistency of delivered solutions Identify new opportunities to reduce toil and automate tasks and workflows, and guide a cohort to understand and deliver on the required uplift Advocate across teams and drive the adoption of engineering accelerators (e.g. automation and improved processes) to maximise the organisational benefit Lead discussion/discovery with business stakeholders to identify and understand key business value and risks of technology services to define and advocate for required improvements, funding and enablement to deliver committed business value Demonstrate an understanding of the financial, commercial and risk constraints to direct and guide delivery within those constraints Collaborate as a member of community of practice to identify opportunities for alignment and maturity uplift which benefit the organisation in improving group practices and capability Review, understand, and prepare architectural artifacts and documents, with minimal support from members of the architecture practice, to ensure solutions are implemented within architectural guiderails. What will you bring To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following: 10+ years of experience in the end-to-end design and development lifecycle within complex environments, requiring integration with multiple systems. 4+ years of experience as a Technical Lead, leading a team of multi-skilled developers. Proven ability to mentor junior developers and effectively lead a team to deliver high-quality solutions. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Deep understanding of cloud platforms, with proficiency in AWS and GCP. Extensive knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming, Architecture and Design Patterns, Microservices, Distributed Messaging, and System Integration. Hands-on expertise with Java, REACT, OpenShift, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, REST Services, and ORMs like Hibernate. Strong experience working with Confluent/Apache Kafka, including managing Kafka Clusters, Apache Zookeeper, and transforming data into topics and streaming processors. Expertise in building and maintaining streaming APIs, with experience supporting large-scale API versioning and ensuring backward compatibility. Proficient in software development lifecycle tools such as IntelliJ IDEA, Eclipse, JIRA, GitHub, Gradle, Kubernetes, and Docker. Solid experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and Observability tools. In-depth experience with both relational (Postgres, SQL Server) and non-relational databases (GCP Firestore, AWS DocumentDB, MongoDB). Ability to leverage AI to improve both personal and team productivity, driving innovation and efficiency.
