Job Description

1.

I.

  • Develop comprehensive capex and opex plans and detailed financial models for all upcoming and ongoing projects, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives.
  • Validate financial assumptions related to cost, timelines, and revenue impact, and ensure adherence to financial performance benchmarks such as Payback Period, Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Return on Capital Employed (ROCE).
  • Incorporate risk buffers and scenario analysis to strengthen planning accuracy and decision-making confidence.

II.

  • Monitor short- and long-term cash flow forecasts to ensure optimal fund availability and rational deployment across projects in coordination with the Treasury team.
  • Oversee vendor billing processes, Letter of Credit (LC) utilization, and advance payments to maintain financial discipline and prevent working capital inefficiencies.
  • Implement robust fund tracking and reporting systems to enhance transparency and accountability.

III.

  • Consolidate project-level financial and operational data into structured, periodic reports for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Automate recurring reporting processes where possible to improve efficiency and ensure real-time visibility into Capex performance.

IV.

  • Lead financial governance through regular variance analysis, highlighting deviations from budget and ensuring timely interventions.
  • Prepare and present quarterly reports on key financial performance indicators (KPIs), enabling leadership visibility and proactive risk management.
  • Establish and monitor internal financial controls, and initiate corrective measures in cases of overspending, budget breaches, or unapproved expenditures.

V.

  • Provide analytical and financial support during contract negotiations to ensure that final deals align with the organizations cost optimization objectives and financial targets.
  • Review and refine Capex BOQs and budget estimates in coordination with project and finance teams; support financial negotiations and commercial discussions by providing cost analysis and recommendations for optimization.
  • Review vendor quotations for commercial feasibility, benchmark costs against industry standards, and offer value engineering insights to enhance deal value.
  • Leverage financial modeling to influence strategic procurement and vendor selection decisions.

VI.

  • Track actual financial performance of projects both during execution and post-commissioning to ensure delivery against projected returns.
  • Prepare comprehensive project closure reports in alignment with Detailed Project Report (DPR) expectations, capturing key financial metrics, learnings, and deviations.
  • Escalate material variances or performance issues to leadership for timely review and corrective planning.

VII.

  • Collaborate with Technical, Commercial, Project Management, and Business Unit FP&A teams to ensure alignment on critical Capex parameters, risk exposures, and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure the Head CFMC is present in all relevant forums, with access to data at par with CFOs for capex decision-making.
  • Drive end-to-end Capex lifecycle hygienefrom budget approval and drawdown to execution tracking and final closureensuring compliance with governance frameworks and internal policies.
  • Act as a bridge between functions to facilitate consistent communication, faster resolution of issues, and a unified approach to Capex management.

2.

  • Chartered Accountant Degree or an MBA (with finance background) or CFA Level 2
  • B.E / B.Tech with at least 5 years of sectorial experience
  • PMP / MBA (Finance) will be an added advantage
  • 12+ years of experience in capital financial planning, project finance, or corporate finance
  • At least 10+ years of sectorial experience in a leadership role managing large-scale capex governance and financial control
  • Experience working with cross-functional project teams, treasury, and executive leadership

  • Strong analytical and financial planning skills.
  • Expertise in procurement, cost control, and financial governance.
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and provide leadership to cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
