Job Description

The Business Development Manager (BDM) for Freight Forwarding is responsible for driving business growth, building strategic partnerships, and expanding the client base. This role involves identifying new business opportunities in freight forwarding, logistics, and supply chain management, developing sales strategies, and negotiating contracts to achieve company revenue targets.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales and Business Growth:

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy for freight forwarding services, targeting local and international markets.
    • Achieve revenue targets by identifying, contacting, and converting potential clients.
    • Grow the companys client base in key sectors such as manufacturing, retail, import/export, and others that require freight forwarding solutions.
    • Prepare and deliver presentations to potential clients, showcasing the companys value proposition.
    • Client Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with both existing and potential clients to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
    • Provide customized freight forwarding solutions based on client needs, focusing on cost-efficiency and timely delivery.
    • Address client concerns and resolve service issues in a timely manner.
    • Conduct regular follow-ups with clients to ensure long-term relationships and customer retention.
    • Market Research and Analysis:

    • Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities, industry trends, and potential areas for growth.
    • Keep abreast of competitive activity and emerging trends within the freight forwarding and logistics industries.
    • Analyze and report on business development performance, including revenue, client acquisition, and market penetration.
    • Sales Strategy and Planning:

    • Develop and implement effective sales strategies and plans for targeting specific industries or regions.
    • Set sales goals and objectives and ensure alignment with company-wide targets.
    • Collaborate with the marketing and operations teams to ensure a cohesive approach to client acquisition and service delivery.
    • Plan and execute sales campaigns, marketing initiatives, and promotional activities to increase brand visibility.
    • Contract Negotiation and Proposal Management:

    • Prepare proposals, negotiate terms, and close deals with potential clients.
    • Draft and manage freight forwarding contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
    • Ensure profitability in all contracts by evaluating pricing models and service offerings.
    • Manage the contract renewal process for existing clients to maintain business continuity.
    • Networking and Industry Engagement:

    • Attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to represent the company and expand professional relationships.
    • Leverage industry connections to generate leads and enhance the company's market position.
    • Build partnerships with key stakeholders in shipping, customs, warehousing, and transportation.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    Any Bachelors degree i
  • Experience:

    Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, sales, or a similar role in the freight forwarding or logistics industry.
  • Skills:

    • Strong sales and negotiation skills with a proven track record in closing deals.
    • In-depth understanding of freight forwarding, customs regulations, and international trade.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build long-term client relationships.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously.
