We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our Analytics Team , which focuses on building scalable data infrastructure, developing analytics frameworks, and delivering actionable insights that enhance search, recommendations, and personalization. As a Staff Engineer, you will play a critical technical leadership role , setting direction for major engineering efforts and guiding teams through design, implementation, and scaling of core data and analytics systems. Your work will directly influence personalization capabilities and the performance of Bloomreach’s intelligent commerce platform. This is a unique opportunity to own key architectural decisions , mentor engineers, and shape the long-term vision of our analytics platform that powers personalized digital experiences across global brands. What You'll Do: Architect, design, and scale complex data processing pipelines and analytics systems to support real-time and batch use cases across search and recommendations. Develop high-performance, fault-tolerant infrastructure that enables fast, accurate, and actionable insights across large-scale datasets. Lead cross-functional initiatives by partnering with Product, Data Science, and Engineering teams to deliver innovative, data-driven personalization features. Drive the design and evolution of analytics frameworks to measure and optimize customer engagement, search effectiveness, and recommendation relevance. Guide the integration of machine learning models into production pipelines, ensuring reliable delivery of ML-powered features at scale. Champion engineering best practices around data quality, monitoring, performance optimization, and platform reliability. Mentor engineers, provide architectural guidance, and influence long-term technical strategy across the team. Take ownership of project execution, helping teams navigate ambiguity and ensuring timely, high-quality delivery in an agile environment. What You'll Need: 8+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, with deep expertise in data-intensive systems, analytics platforms, or personalization technologies. 5+ years of experience working with big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Map/Reduce, Kafka, and cloud-native data platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure). Strong proficiency in Java, Python, Go, or other modern programming languages; deep understanding of distributed systems and software architecture. Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable and reliable data pipelines in production environments. Advanced knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and system design principles. Familiarity with machine learning workflows, including feature engineering and model serving in production. Experience with analytics frameworks, BI tools, and data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, and Tableau is a plus. Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, drive complex projects across teams, and foster a culture of technical excellence. We invent and apply machine learning, data mining, and information retrieval algorithms to understand, identify, and improve web content discovery. We have built industry leading algorithms in search and recommendations for the commerce space that serve the most relevant experiences using Artificial Intelligence with the goal-building AI driven experiences beyond commerce. Your Responsibilities: Design, develop, and enhance ML/AI models which mainly power Search and Recommendation. Process historical data, search queries, product catalog, and images to extract hidden relations and features. Conduct research to explore ongoing cutting-edge ML techniques (especially deep learning) and conduct a quick POC. Work closely with Data Engineers and Senior Data Scientists to integrate and scale ML components to a production-level that can handle terabytes of data. Continuously learn and stay up to date with the current state-of-the-art techniques by reading research papers and attending AI/ML conferences. Qualifications: BS/MS degree in Computer Science or a related discipline with a strong mathematical foundation and excellent programming skills (primarily Python) 5-8 years experience building ML-driven fast and scalable ML/analytical algorithms in a corporate/startup environment. Strong awareness and understanding of recent trends in Generative AI and LLMs. Experience in working with GenAI stack will be treated as strong credentials. Strong understanding of various machine learning and natural language processing technologies, such as classification, information retrieval, clustering, knowledge graph, semi-supervised learning and ranking.
