Role & responsibilities

BIW Fixture Design engineer

The candidate should be proficient in CATIA V5/V6 and should be skilled in conceptualization, 3D modeling, 2D drafting, and drawings.

• He should be aware of SAWVIPL BIW Design Standards in CATIA (3D and 2D standard templates).
• Utilize and analyze CATIA fixture data and use other applications (as necessary) to perform job requirements.
• Under minimal supervision, be technically responsible and accountable for the assigned work.
• Carry out initial process planning work for Body Sub-Assemblies with given product and process data and other parameters such as cycle time, automation content, area requirements, etc.
• Study the project inputs, create concepts, and if the concept is approved/implemented, update the modifications in existing tooling designs.
•  Design of simple BIW fixtures and handling tools like lifting tackles/manipulators, as per the SAWVWIPL Standards.
•  FMEA and Poka-yoke study for stations in the bodyshop.
•  Gun accessibility study for manual and robotic fixtures.
•  BOM creation.
• Engineering change feasibility study and cost estimation for new projects or improvements/integration projects in the bodyshop.
•  Check for discrepancies in design vs. actual by verifying available data, and make corrections as required.
• Maintain records of station-wise processes and master process data of BIW sub-assemblies.
•  Conversion of 3D models into 2D drawings (complete manufacturing drawings).
•  Modification of drawings based on changes in process, material, and design.
• Creating and releasing manufacturing drawings, maintaining work log book and weekly working time sheets.
• Bachelors Engineering Degree either from Mechanical or Production Engineering background with  minimum3 years design experience using CATIA V5 V6 (with  min  2 years Exp. in BIW fixture design  Conceptualization, 3D Modeling, surfacing, 2D Drafting & Detaling)  .
• Having working experience of SAVWIPL Projects will be an added advantage  . General understanding and familiarization of Automobile Industries with high Proficiency 3D modeling of  BIW Jigs and Fixtures Manufacturing  .
• Should have knowledge and experience on Volkswagen CATIA Validate ( SAVWIPL specific Tool).  .
• Experience on SAVWIPL projects with Line builders like KUKA, TMS, HLS or EDAG is preferred.  .
• Design Engineer having knowledge and experience of Volkswagen MQB Standard is an added advantage.
