Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced

Azure Data Engineer

to lead

Business Intelligence Operations

at an enterprise scale. This leadership role involves driving data engineering strategy, managing BI platforms, and ensuring robust governance and compliance. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise in

Azure Data Services

and

Databricks

with strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with CXOs and business leaders to understand source data and translate requirements into technical solutions using Databricks, Azure Synapse, and Azure Data Factory.
  • ETL/ELT Development: Design, implement, and manage end-to-end ETL/ELT processes for MIS automation, system integrations, and streaming data ingestion using Delta Live Tables.
  • Cost Management: Drive cost estimation, optimization, and control for new and existing cloud-based data engineering solutions.
  • Data Governance: Implement data lake governance, archival, and purging policies.
  • BI Development Oversight: Guide teams on advanced analytics scenarios in Qlik and Power BI (e.g., bucketing, time series, forecasting, correlation, time intelligence, hierarchical data handling).
  • Change Management: Review existing data pipelines, SQL/Python code, and BI visualizations for issues; manage change requests through the Change Approval Board.
  • Pipeline Delivery: Estimate and deliver ad-hoc and scheduled data pipelines for high-volume structured and unstructured data.
  • Data Accuracy & Supervision: Oversee and validate all ad-hoc data requirements for accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Set up proactive ETL monitoring and resolve ETL issues promptly.
  • Compliance & Security: Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and masking standards.
  • Disaster Recovery: Plan and oversee execution of DR drills for BI data platforms.
  • Audit Readiness: Ensure developments follow coding standards and are fully documented for audits; coordinate BI platform audits with internal teams.
