As a professional in the Direct Tax Litigation team, you will play a crucial role in managing tax disputes, representing clients before tax authorities and appellate forums, and providing advice on various direct tax matters. Your responsibilities will include: - **Litigation Management:** - Representing clients in direct tax disputes before tax authorities, CIT(A), ITAT, and High Courts. - Drafting appeals, written submissions, rejoinders, and other litigation documents. - Coordinating with senior counsels and attending hearings. - **Advisory & Risk Assessment:** - Analyzing tax assessments and audit notices to draft strategic responses. - Advising clients on tax positions and potential litigation exposure. - Evaluating precedents, legal provisions, and regulatory updates. - **Client & Stakeholder Management:** - Maintaining strong relationships with clients, internal stakeholders, and tax authorities. - Providing litigation updates and strategic recommendations to clients. - **Research & Drafting:** - Conducting in-depth legal research on tax laws, case laws, and circulars. - Preparing research notes and technical memos for internal and client use. - **Compliance & Documentation:** - Ensuring timely filing of appeals, replies, and representations. - Maintaining litigation trackers and case files. **Key Requirements:** - Strong understanding of the Indian Income Tax Act, 1961, and allied laws. - Proven experience in handling tax assessments and appeals. - Excellent drafting, communication, and analytical skills. - Ability to manage multiple litigation cases and deadlines. - Experience in interacting with tax authorities and senior counsels.
