About The Role
As a Hardware Engineer in the HW/ME team within the Advanced Innovation division of EPIC, Car Audio (Automotive), you will play a key role in developing cutting-edge hardware solutions.Your role includes design, construction, building and testing of hardware modules/platforms, collaborating with cross-functional teams, troubleshooting technical issues, and documenting design specifications. Attention to detail and the ability to work in a team are crucial skills for success in this role. You will design HW circuits for any Innovation concept / Prototype creation, which have a need for controlling, interfacing, sensing, connecting or any other module functionality. You can transform a scope of work into practical work package and quality designed products.
What You Will Do
- Explore new user experience (UeX) ideas and products for Harman Automotive.
- Execute advanced innovation projects within EPIC.
- Assess the scope of work for projects within your area of expertise.
- Develop hardware architecture and design/build modules for experience elements.
- Coordinate interfaces and collaborate across relevant Harman functions.
- Track and report progress and maturity of work packages to the management team.
- Conduct reviews with peers and stakeholders to ensure adherence to HW engineering best practices.
- Provide documentation for HW controller platforms used by EPIC Automotive.
- Possess technical knowledge of mechanical systems.
- Participates in specification reviews and work with project teams on concept architecture and system block diagrams.
- Perform the holistic concept and detailed HW design for controlling modules, including embedded SW.
What You Need To Be Successful
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the automotive industry.
- A solid foundation in hardware engineering principles, development tools, and relevant technical knowledge
- Knowledge of bus interfaces such as CAN and LIN
- Familiarity with microprocessors (uP) and embedded software
- Experience working with Linux
- Broad understanding of technology and engineering concepts
- Knowledge of automotive electrical systems within overall vehicle architecture
- Awareness of constraints and challenges in automotive engineering and development processes
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
Bonus Points if You Have
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical/electrical/electronic engineering or a related field.
- Familiarity with audio components such as transducers, amplifiers, and microphones
- Ability to define and articulate project scope clearly
- Skilled in estimating, planning, and coordinating project activities
- Understanding of mechanical architecture and the design process
