Job Summary
We are looking for a Communications Returns Tax Associate Analyst to join our fast-paced, dynamic company. This is a great opportunity for a candidate to work in an innovative environment and grow within our business. The Associate Analyst will be responsible for identifying areas of improvement as well as serving an elite group of customers with highly complex returns as their primary point of contact. Candidate must be highly driven, detail oriented and proficient at balancing multiple priorities/issues.Relationship Management and CommunicationThis role is specific to the Communications Returns offering where you will be providing service to taxpayers. To succeed, you must be comfortable taking ownership of your customer’s overall satisfaction and you must be empathetic to customer needs. Your understanding of the customer’s needs will enable them to get the full benefit of Avalara’s expertise and software enabling them to Self-Serve where possible. Compliance is complex, so your ability to set expectations and relay information in an easily understood manner is essential; this includes potential escalations where clear and timely communication is imperative.
Job Duties
What Your Responsibilities Will Be
- Prepare, review, and file multi-jurisdictional sales/use, business and occupation, and gross receipts tax returns for monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual filings.
- Manage a select group of customers as their primary point of contact.
- Ability to research and resolve jurisdictional notices on behalf of customers.
- Responsible for identifying and improving automation to serve our customers across a variety of market and tax verticals.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with customers, jurisdictions, and other internal teams as part of research and resolution.
- Perform QA related to sales and use tax content and form changes.
- Manage workload to effectively meet deadlines.
- Identify ways to improve process and/or technology to better serve our customers.
- Work collaboratively with all staff members and management.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
Commerce, Bachelor of Science, Masters in Finance or Masters in Business Administration.Experience with a Big 4 firm, large corporate tax department of a multinational company, or large ERP integration.Technical skills:- Must-Have:
- Proven experience with Microsoft Office including MS word, MS Excel & MS Outlook.
- Good-to-Have (Added advantage):
- Knowledge of sales & Use tax
- Experience with CRM software like Salesforce.
- Experience in scheduling meeting using tools like Zoom.
- Experience with tracking software like Atlassian Jira/Confluence.
- Experience in working with onsite teams
Soft Skills:- Must-Have
- Very good written / oral language skills in English
- Efficient team player and learn on the job itself.
- Ability to interact professionally with employees and customers.
- Work collaboratively with willingness to listen and work in fast paced challenging environment.
- Adaptability, initiative and problem-solving capabilities.
- Good-to-Have (Added advantage)
- Experience with Product based company.
- Experience with SaaS based solutions.
