Job Summary:

The Assistant Manager Purchase will oversee procurement operations for electronic components, raw materials, and consumables critical to EMS production. This role involves strategic sourcing, supplier development, and cost optimization while ensuring compliance with quality standards and delivery timelines. The position requires strong leadership, global sourcing expertise, and the ability to manage complex supply chains in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Procurement:

    Formulate and execute procurement strategies for electronic components and EMS-related materials to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Supplier Development:

    Identify, evaluate, and onboard global and local suppliers for PCBs, semiconductors, connectors, and other EMS-specific components.
  • Negotiation & Contracting:

    Lead negotiations for pricing, payment terms, and long-term agreements to achieve cost savings and secure supply continuity.
  • Team Leadership:

    Guide and mentor purchase engineers, ensuring adherence to procurement processes and timely execution of purchase orders.
  • Inventory & Lead Time Management:

    Collaborate with planning teams to maintain optimal inventory levels and reduce lead times for critical components.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance:

    Ensure suppliers meet IPC standards, RoHS compliance, and other EMS quality requirements.
  • Cost Optimization:

    Drive cost-reduction initiatives through alternate sourcing, bulk procurement, and supplier consolidation.
  • Risk Management:

    Develop contingency plans for material shortages, geopolitical risks, and logistics disruptions.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:

    Work closely with production, NPI (New Product Introduction), and business development teams to support prototype builds and RFQs.
  • Reporting & Analytics:

    Prepare procurement dashboards, cost analysis reports, and supplier performance reviews for management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (ECE/EEE) or in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience:

    6–8 years in procurement within EMS or electronics manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic components, PCBs, and EMS supply chain dynamics.
  • Expertise in global sourcing, import/export regulations, and logistics management.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement tools.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with IPC standards, RoHS compliance, and quality audits.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage supplier relationships across multiple geographies.
