Assistant Professor of English

Duties and responsibilities

Teaching and curriculum development:

• Deliver lectures and tutorials for courses in areas like literature, composition, and creative writing.
• Develop and update course syllabi, lesson plans, and assessment materials.
• Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and other work.

Research and scholarship:

• Engage in original research in a specific area of expertise.
• Publish academic articles, books, or other scholarly works.
• Present research findings at academic conferences.

Student mentoring and advising:

• Provide academic and career guidance to students.
• Serve as a research advisor and mentor for undergraduate and graduate students.
• Assist with student recruitment and orientation.

Service and administration:

• Participate in departmental and university committees.
• Attend faculty meetings and contribute to discussions and decision-making.
• Assist with administrative tasks, such as curriculum review or program development.

Professional development:

• Stay current with developments in the field of study.
• Explore new strategies to enhance teaching and curriculum delivery.

Qualifications and requirements

• A Ph.D. +MA+ BA in English is typically required.
• A strong research record with publications and conference presentations is often necessary.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills are essential.
