Job Description

The Assistant Professor in Physiotherapy (Sports Physiotherapy) will teach, mentor, and guide undergraduate and postgraduate physiotherapy students. The role includes curriculum development, clinical supervision, academic research, and contributing to departmental growth. The candidate must have strong knowledge of sports injuries, rehabilitation, performance optimization, and evidence-based physiotherapy practices.

Key Responsibilities Teaching & Academic Duties

  • Deliver lectures, practical sessions, and clinical demonstrations in Sports Physiotherapy.
  • Develop and update course materials, lesson plans, and assessment tools.
  • Guide students in case studies, laboratory work, and research projects.
  • Conduct internal assessments, practical examinations, and student evaluations.
  • Participate in academic committees, curriculum review, and program development.

Clinical & Professional Responsibilities

  • Supervise students during clinical postings in sports medicine centers, rehabilitation departments, and on-field events.
  • Provide expertise in assessing and treating sports injuries, biomechanics, and performance enhancement.
  • Coordinate with sports teams, coaches, and athletic trainers for training and rehabilitation programs.
  • Demonstrate evidence-based physiotherapy techniques and advanced sports rehabilitation strategies.

Research & Publications

  • Engage in research activities related to sports physiotherapy, injury prevention, and rehabilitation sciences.
  • Publish research papers in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Guide student dissertations and promote a research culture in the department.
  • Apply for research grants and participate in academic conferences/workshops.

Administrative & Institutional Roles

  • Support departmental administration and assist in organizing academic events, workshops, and continuing education programs.
  • Participate in accreditation processes and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Mentor students in academic and career development.

Qualifications & RequirementsEssential Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy (MPT/MSc PT) with specialization in Sports Physiotherapy.
  • Registration with a recognized Physiotherapy Council .

Preferred Qualifications

  • Clinical experience in sports injury management, athletic rehabilitation, or sports teams.
  • Prior teaching experience in a recognized physiotherapy institution.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong theoretical and clinical knowledge in sports physiotherapy.
  • Proficiency in evidence-based practice and sports biomechanics.
  • Excellent communication, teaching, and mentorship skills.
