Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Inventory & Store Management

  • Supervise day-to-day store operations including receiving, binning, storage, and dispatch of materials.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels for fabricated parts, chassis components, pumps, valves, hoses, electrical items, foam tanks, and other fire-vehicle specific materials.
  • Conduct regular stock audits, cycle counts, and reconcile variances.
  • Implement and monitor FIFO / FEFO principles.

B. Material Planning & Coordination

  • Coordinate with Production, Purchase, and Planning teams to ensure timely availability of materials for vehicle assembly.
  • Track critical components such as fire pumps, PTOs, monitors, siren systems, control panels, and safety equipment.

C. Documentation & ERP

  • Maintain updated records in ERP/MRP systems (SAP / Tally / Oracle / Infor etc.).
  • Ensure correct documentation for GRN, MRN, issue slips, return notes, and stock statements.
  • Track vendor deliveries, pending orders, and material shortages.

D. Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure incoming materials comply with quality standards and coordinate with QC for inspection.
  • Follow safety and housekeeping standards appropriate to a fire-fighting equipment manufacturing facility.
  • Ensure statutory compliance for storage of chemicals, foam concentrates, paints, and hazardous materials.

E. Team Management

  • Supervise storekeepers, helpers, and material handlers.
  • Train staff in store processes, ERP usage, hygiene and 5S.

F. Vendor & Logistics Support

  • Coordinate with suppliers for timely delivery and resolve material discrepancies.
  • Oversee proper unloading, handling of heavy components, and storage as per safety norms.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Education:

    Diploma / Graduate in Mechanical/Electrical/Automobile Engineering or B.Com with inventory management experience.
  • Experience:

    48 years in store operations; experience in automobile / heavy vehicle / fire-fighter vehicle manufacturing preferred.
  • Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of fire-vehicle components & assemblies
  • ERP / MRP proficiency
  • Inventory management & stock control
  • Understanding of quality processes
  • Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication and coordination
  • Leadership & team handling
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities
