Designation Assistant Manager Purchase Location Mumbai Job Purpose Roles Responsibilities: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager - Purchase to oversee and manage the purchasing and import activities within our company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth procurement of materials and products, managing relationships with suppliers, coordinating import processes, and overseeing the logistics involved in bringing goods into the country. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and experience preferably in the chemical industry. Key Responsibilities Purchasing Management: Develop and implement sourcing strategies for procurement of chemicals, packaging. Domestic purchase of chemicals and Packing material purchase, Labels, CFB, Mono Cartons, Leaflet, from approved suppliers. Consumable Procurement like spares, Miscellaneous material like safety, mechanical, electrical spares , Safety PPE spares RFQ, negotiation, price tabulation and quality standard. Vendor Development for cost optimisation by negotiating with suppliers for best pricing, terms, and conditions and supply risk mitigation. Source packaging material for all new upcoming brands, artwork changes, approval order placing, follow up to avoid stock out situation. Conducting e-auctions to get the best price. AMC ARC for Services of Equipment and ordering of capital equipments Review and negotiate the quarterly pricing movement and provide accurate price, delivery forecast. Work closely with internal stakeholders (production, demand planning, logistics, warehouse, finance, etc.) Work on SAP Order placing, reports , material code creation, MIS. Import Management: Coordinate and manage all aspects of the import process, including ordering, shipping, customs clearance, and delivery. Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, import duties, and other legal requirements. Work with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and shipping companies to ensure timely delivery of imported goods. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of import/export regulations and best practices. Cost Management: Track and manage the budget for purchasing and import logistics, ensuring that spending is within budget limits. Monitor and control of raw material packing material inventory level. Optimize storage and minimize waste. Identify cost-saving opportunities in the procurement and import logistics processes. Negotiate contracts with third-party vendors to achieve cost-effective solutions. Documentation and Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely documentation for all import shipments (invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, etc.). Prepare regular reports on procurement, import logistics, inventory, and supply chain performance for senior management. Maintain all documentation and reports pertaining to Audit requirement. Educational Qualification: Graduate in any discipline Experience: 8-10 years of experience in Purchase function preferably in chemical industry Experience in Procurement of Packaging materials, imports of chemicals and indigenous raw material Skills: Knowledge of SAP Good Negotiation Skills Good verbal and written communication Strong interpersonal and people skills Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and respond effectively to changing priorities and requirements An inclusive Godrej Before you go, there is something important we want to highlight.
